The Quiz, or questionnaire, on this website was designed to determine whether you may have a type of muscular dystrophy. To help identify individuals who may have one of the diseases studied by the foundations in our consortium, we sponsor genetic sequencing for the diseases listed below. After taking the quiz, we will contact you if your answers suggest that you may have one of the diseases covered by our sequencing program and invite you to participate in our diagnosis program at no cost to you.

Diseases Tested by our Genetic Sequencing
  • Limb girdle muscular dystrophies (LGMD1A-F and LGMD2A-Q)
  • Miyoshi myopathy 1 (MMD1)
  • Miyoshi myopathy 3 (MMD3)
  • Myofibrillar myopathy
  • GNE Myopathy (Nonaka/HIBM)
  • Tibial muscular dystrophy
  • Becker muscular dystrophy (BMD)
  • Duchene muscular dystrophy (DMD)
  • Facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD2)
  • Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophy (EDMD)
  • ISPD myopathy (LGMD 2S)
  • Pompe
  • Collagen VI myopathy (Bethlem/Ullrich)

What will I be asked to do?
By participating in our diagnostic program, you will be asked to send in a saliva sample from which DNA will be isolated for analysis.
What will I get by participating?
We will send you a report that lists any mutations you have in the genes tested. You will be asked to take the genetic report to your physician who can use the results to accurately diagnose you. Additional genetic tests may be required in the future to confirm your diagnosis because not all disease-causing mutations have been identified and some regions of the gene TTN are not covered by this test. In addition, no mutations may be found because the gene associated with your disease may not have yet been identified, is not included in this analysis, or the cause is not genetic in nature.
How long will it take to get my results?
Once the DNA sample has arrived at the sequencing facility it will take between 2-4 months before you receive a report.
